Supportive care at every step.

Your initial consultation is an opportunity to meet with Dr. Wu, review your imaging, and discuss your diagnosis and treatment options. Our goal is to ensure you leave with a clear understanding of your recommended care, what to expect, and the next steps in your treatment.

Dr. Brendan Wu
DMD, MD, MMSc

Education

Dr. Wu trained in both dentistry and medicine, which is what the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery asks for. He studied molecular biology at Princeton, then earned a Master of Medical Sciences in immunology at Harvard Medical School, a Doctor of Dental Medicine at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and a Doctor of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

Residency

He completed a six-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at NYU Langone Health and Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan, among the most demanding training programs in the country. Bellevue is a major urban trauma center, which means the case volume and the range are unusual. He served as chief resident in his final year.

Research

Dr. Wu has authored more than twenty peer-reviewed publications and presented award-winning research at national meetings of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His work covers dental implants, facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery and TMJ disorders, all of it aimed at the same question: what actually produces a better outcome for the patient in the chair.

In practice

He treats patients of all ages, and takes the view that most anxiety about surgery comes from not knowing what is about to happen. So he explains it. Every plan is built around the individual rather than the procedure, and the goal is always the same one: something that works, that is comfortable to get through, and that lasts.

Outside the office

Traveling, hiking, skiing, and getting further into the Pacific Northwest. At home there is a wife and two cats.

Your first visit

What to expect

Our front office team gets you checked in, then Dr. Wu sits down with you. You describe what is going on, he asks questions, and the history gets covered before anything is imaged.
